I've entered into the world of Radio Controlled (RC) Aircraft.  First project:  A "Lanzo Bomber."  It is built frorm free plans available at Frly RC Magazine.  I've built mine from 1/4" Elmer's foam core.  I'm using a JR Rx/Tx w/ a 25 amp E-Flite Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) and an E-Flite 370 Outrunner motor powering a 9x4.5 prop.

  • Glide Tests w/ Servos only:  Great success.  50 yard flights off about a 30' hill.  First RC flights ever!
  • First Powered Flight (ever):  Crashed - broke prop.  At least it took off and flew for a while.  It was cockpit error that caused the crash.  First time flier's nerves!
  • Second Powered Flight session:  Several good flights w/ several bad landings.  Broke prop on first flight.  Enjoyed several successful flights (w/ hard landings).  Final flight w/ battery losing power resulted in a landing that ripped the firewall from the fuselage.  Perfect timing!  (Thus, the motor in the pictures is held on with a rubber band :-)  )  Back to the workbench!
